Payton’s journey was 6 hours from Rochester, MN to central Illinois, where a soak in the vintage clawfoot tub, the sounds of our staff playing piano, and our luxurious bedding in the recently redesigned Rose Suite provided the place for reflection that was needed.
Making the switch from staying in hotels to a true bed and breakfast usually takes just one stay… and then you’re hooked. That was the case for Payton who leveled up from typical accommodations during their trip to Bloomington, Illinois, and all the amenities seemed to really make the stay memorable.
We wish the same for you when you finally decide to make a more vibrant and vintage switch from hotels to locally owned B&Bs. Learn about the Rose Suite and book it today.
This was my first time at a bed and breakfast and it was such a wonderful stay!
The bed is super comfy, the soaps smell great, the tub is divine and the piano music is so relaxing! Will definitely be booking again on my next trip down to Bloomington/Normal. Thank you for a terrific stay.
Thanks so much,Payton, Rochester, MN
The Rose Suite
Payton stayed in the Rose Suite on the 2nd floor of the mansion, which is nestled between the Master Chamber Room and Carl Vrooman Suite, with windows facing East. Inside you’ll find a queen-sized bed, tufted sitting couch, secretary desk, and marble top dresser. The decorative fireplace adds an element of vintage charm and reminder of a time when central heating and air wasn’t as common.

Beds & Bedding Matter
When you’re staying at a bed and breakfast, the bed matters. You’re here to stay overnight in addition to the other activities of your travel, so we take pride in bedding that is soft, comfortable and luxurious. Each detail from the headboard and footboard, to the comforter and throw pillows are specially selected for the Rose Suite to add to the character and experience.
Soak it In
The Rose Suite has a private attached full bath which includes a bathtub and shower combination. The tub is a unique clawfoot tub with a wooden outside; an uncommon find!
And of course in all of our bathrooms you’ll find soap, shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer to make your stay more convenient. You’ll also find a makeup washcloth and locally made lip balm.
If you’d like to level up your experience, you can also add on a Bath Package, which included additional bath salts among other luxuries. It’s the perfect addition if you’re one night or several.
Listen Closely
On the first floor of the mansion next to the foyer, we have the music room which includes our player piano that can be controlled through an iPad, or played naturally. A member of our staff is a fabulous talent, who loves to play for our guests at their request, and Payton was lucky enough to have a listen.
If you reserve the mansion for a private event we’re happy to help you set up the player piano, or allow you to use the music room for other local talent to come and play. We’ve hosted acoustic guitarists and even string quartets!
