The Fern Suite – A Tranquil Retreat

Cathy and Ron, on their first motorcycle ride to a bed and breakfast, found themselves captivated by the Fern Suite at our Carriage House. Located on the second floor, this exquisite suite derives its name from the lush ferns that once adorned the grounds, lovingly planted by Julia Vrooman, one of the original owners. As they stepped into the suite, they were embraced by a richly toned décor that evoked a sense of being whisked away from the everyday hustle. The queen-size memory foam pillow-top mattress, encased in a hand-painted frame, ensures nights of blissful slumber.

The modern bathroom, a marvel in itself, boasts a tile and glass shower, custom woodwork, and an antique mirror with a hand-painted sink. To further enhance their stay, a reading chair and marble top dresser and tables add a touch of elegance and coziness. From the north and west-facing shuttered windows, Cathy and Ron enjoyed picturesque views of the Main House and the spacious lawn that stretched before them. For moments of relaxation, guests can indulge in reading books on the screened-in porch or take leisurely walks on the nearby Constitution Trail.

The Enchanting Carriage House

The Fern Suite is one of two delightful suites housed within our charming Carriage House. With its recent renovation, this two-story structure seamlessly blends the warmth of a cozy cottage getaway with modern amenities and spa-quality bathroom fixtures. The Carriage House beckons those seeking an immersive experience in the heart of Bloomington, Illinois.

Both suites are situated on the second floor, providing privacy and comfort with their own private baths and walk-in showers. Guests can choose to reserve one suite or indulge in the entire Carriage House for a private retreat. The first floor of the Carriage House sets the stage for intimate gatherings, complete with heated floors and a stone-set wood-burning fireplace. Stepping beyond the screened-in porch, Cathy and Ron discovered an outdoor fireplace nestled among the mature oak and maple trees, creating the perfect ambiance for cozy moments under the stars with wine or s’mores.

The Carriage House truly caters to every guest’s desire. Whether you’re a writer seeking quiet inspiration, a newlywed couple longing for a secluded honeymoon suite, or the leader of a small group of ladies planning a spa party weekend, the Carriage House offers a sanctuary for all.

Guests who choose to reserve both bedrooms and privatize the Carriage House gain access to a queen-size pullout sleeper sofa, accommodating up to six overnight guests. Please note that all our suites are located on the second floor and do not have elevator access. However, our attentive staff is always available to assist with carrying bags.
