For first time (or repeat) parents, taking some time away together before your family joyfully expands can be a great way to connect with your partner and have some time to yourselves. Great hospitality and overall just a lovely place to stay. We stayed here just for the night. This was our last little getaway before the arrival of our son. This soon to be momma really enjoyed the bath as it was simply divine. The bed sheets were so comfy too. We will be back!

The Carl Vrooman Suite at Vrooman Mansion

This two-room suite is on the second floor of the mansion, accessible by two different staircases. With its own attached private bathroom, this a comfy and roomy space that can accommodate a couple looking for an intimate getaway. But it’s also great for two single guests, a family of four, or a small group of friends looking for a weekend escape because of the full size queen sofa bed in the adjoining room.

The main bedroom is adorned with a grand queen-size bed framed by burl-wood posts, an elegant decorative fireplace with deep colors, and windows facing north and east.

Right next door, the private sitting room boasts a queen-size sofa bed and the writing desk once used by Carl Vrooman himself. It’s the perfect spot to put aside your to-do list and unwind.

Carl and his wife Julia used to enjoy afternoon tea in this room, which offers a wide window seat with a view of the charming gardens, the majestic maple and oak trees, the historic Carriage House, and the Lincoln Oak Memorial where Lincoln and Douglas famously gave speeches.

In the attached private bathroom, you’ll find a unique pull-chain toilet and a claw-foot slipper tub with a handheld shower head. (Note: If you prefer showers over baths, we have other rooms available with walk-in showers or shower/tub combinations.)

And for those who cherish a good soak after a long day, don’t hesitate to ask us about our bath package. It includes all the essentials for a pampering and soothing experience: our signature soaking salts, sugar scrub, and more, all infused with delightful essential oils to leave you feeling calm and rejuvenated.
