With the cooler months approaching, now is the time to start planning some fun indoor activities. Bloomington, IL has two great museums that provide hours of entertainment for adults and kids alike. The McLean County History Museum and the Children’s Discovery Museum are both located near the heart of Bloomington and are great stops on your next trip to the city.

The McLean County History Museum is located less than a mile from Vrooman Mansion, and is only $5.00 for adults and children are free to get in. The current list of exhibits include: Abraham Lincoln in McLean County, Challenges Choices and Change, Courthouse Exhibit, and Hands On Pioneer Discovery Room. The Abraham Lincoln exhibit looks at how the president was closely tied into the McLean County community while the Courthouse exhibit takes a closer look at the four courthouses located within McLean County. The museum also offers sensory nights and every Tuesday is free to get in. The hours on Monday through Saturday are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tuesdays offer extended hours staying open until 9:00 pm. The Children’s Discovery Museum is located roughly two and half miles from Vrooman Mansion, but still a close drive on your next visit to the city. Their newest exhibit, ImagineAir offers kids an exploration of air flow, power and energy through floor to ceiling experiments. Kids as young as toddlers and all the way up through pre-teen, will find the three jam-packed floors of hands-on play entertaining for hours on end. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday with the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sunday hours are 1:00 to 5:00 pm while Mondays are only open to members. The cost to play is not much considering all you get to experience while inside, $7 for anyone ages 2 and older. This museum is another great option for those days when the weather wants to keep you inside, but you want to get out and explore.
