A location with furniture, decorations and vibrant details from the time period means that you don’t have to decorate. And since we were built in 1869 with the glamour maintained and refurbished over the decades, all you have to do is dress up, show up, and celebrate in the most fashionable way.

Downtown Abbey Tea Parties

Old world elegance might be tough to pull off in a typical restaurant, hotel, or even home. But what if you could be in a parlor room circa 1900? And what if you could have tea and finger foods served to you? Silver platters and all?

While central Illinois has a few historic homes you can tour, there aren’t many where you can throw a Bridgerton or Downtown Abbey themed party. You can at Vrooman Mansion. Built in 1869 with the foyer, staircase and parlor built in 1900, we’ve carefully maintained the vintage glamour, and balanced it with modern amenities (indoor plumbing, electricity, heat, A/C and WiFi) that your guests will likely expect and appreciate.

And as a bed and breakfast, we have a full kitchen able to cater your tea party so you don’t have to worry about bringing food, setting up, or cleaning up. We take care of all of it.

Garden Parties, Wedding Showers and Bridal Showers

You can choose the parlor, the foyer, or a garden party (weather permitting of course) that uses our beautiful covered patio and grounds. It is common to have wedding receptions out on the grounds, but who says you can’t have a garden tea party or bridal shower instead?

With the flowers budding around you and space to mingle, you don’t have to go far. In the heart of Bloomington, in a beautiful and historic quiet neighborhood, you can waltz through the garden in a ball gown if you so choose and be served tea, finger foods, sandwiches, and more.

Now this is where you can encourage your guests to dress the theme! But you can also have the right environment to set the mood:

• Get ready in the Master Chamber with a mirrored antique armoire, perfect for pictures.
• Take photos on the beautiful red tufted couch in the parlor or the blue tufted couch in the room with an antique wall safe.
