Some people may be surprised to learn that Abraham Lincoln had rich history in Central Illinois. He spent more time in Bloomington than any other town in Central Illinois outside of Springfield. In fact, we are pleased to point out our Sitting Room window at Vrooman Mansion, to a small park where the Lincoln Oak Tree once stood; a shady place where Lincoln stood on a platform to deliver several moving speeches. Sadly, the original Lincoln Oak died in 1976, and a new oak tree was planted at the site to commemorate this historical spot.  

We love the way the Lincoln Museum accurately tributes him as a man who tried to do right by his family and friends, and was often forced to face the impossible in his personal and professional life.  The museum has scheduled a Spooktacular evening that includes historical characters dressed in period costume as they “haunt” the exhibit journeys. You will be wowed by the clever special effects with eerie lighting and live DJ music as you enjoy thematic snacks, drinks, crafts, and games to travel back in time. This is an evening suitable for kids and adults of all ages. Children are encouraged to dress-up in a costume, however adults will not be allowed with a hood or mask.
